Post date: Jul 22, 2014 6:33:16 PM
Fieldwork was carried out in the Canals de Navarrés valley, País Valenciano, Spain in May and June 2014. The work included systematic, patch-based archaeological survey, vegetation survey, and geological reconnaissance. We used hi-resolution geospatial data in the field, on iPads, to identify and map survey areas. Work was co-directed by Joan Bernabeu (University of Valencia) and Michael Barton (Arizona State University). Participants included archaeologists Agustin Diez and Oreto Garcia (University of Valencia faculty); geomorphologist Arjun Heimsath (ASU faculty); ecologist Miguel Acevedo (University of North Texas faculty); Sean Bergin, Wendy Cegielski, and Grant Snitker (ASU graduate students); and Salvador Pardo (UV graduate student); and three volunteers. In western Liguria, we met with Italian archaeologists and carried out initial stage reconnaissance to identify areas for archaeological and geological survey in subsequent field seasons. Work was co-directed by Julien Riel-Salvatore (University of Colorado Denver) and Michael Barton (ASU). Participants included Arjun Heimsath (ASU faculty); Claudine Gravel-Miguel (ASU graduate student; and three UCD students. Attached photos show:
